...kiddos had to go back to school today, so we went again and mostly had the trails to ourselves. I love that Lukas got so much skiing in, that is awesome. So nice to discover this close-to-home option. Did you ski there growing up?
I didn’t start cross-country skiing until after I’d left home for college, and then on visits back home we’d usually go out to random trails in Lincoln or golf courses or whatever, and sometimes Great Brook Farm. But really didn’t ski that much until moving to Norway, so we’re still exploring the local options!
No kiddin! Our other thought for New Year's was to drive up to Gunstock, but we opted for close. First time I've been on anything besides an out-and-back in awhile, although you can really go "out" for a distance at the sno-parks near Mt. Baker.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Great Brook Farm is like when it's groomed. Not much in the way of hard stuff, there - the one trail that is cross-compartmentalized across a couple spurs is Anna's favorite, and she could just do loops on it all day and be perfectly happy. We;re also taking scouts to Great Glen (VT) in a few weeks, but that is really too long a drive for a day trip.
