A while ago I wrote about my pneumonia and it was bad but this Pancreatits has me for a loop and our travel insurance has shipped me back to Canada for surgery to have my gall bladder removed. That is okay but now the medical people are saying it will be a 2-3 week recovery in Ottawa before I can return to Florida.
I have had to cancel one O event (150 entries) for Saturday and have another scheduled for Feb 1 which I really would like to avoid cancelling another? Is there anyone going to be in the Sarasota area of Florida around that time who would be willing to take on a few tasks - setting out the controls, etc.
I can set the courses - its a Score O event with three courses in OCAD and send jpegs to you..
Blaik Mathews of FLO will handle timing and the JROTC handle the entries and awards. we already have 120 entries. Yes we can handle some expenses but don't ask for travel, per diem. This would basically be a pro bono effort.
Anyone interested? Contact me ASAP please.
Gord, I can't help you with the event but do wish you a rapid and strong recovery from the surgery. Take care of yourself!
Hi Gord, can't help you with the event, just bumping your post, and wishing you a full recovery. Also suggest adding Feb1 and Florida to the topic's title. Hugs.
Good news. A knight in shining armor - or more particularly one with the skill set in an SI era - has stepped up.
He's Blaik Mathews of Florida Orienteering. Remember that name O-USA. You'll be awarding him the Silva Award some time soon. (and not for this).
Great, good to hear it Gord! I hope you are feeling better in a hurry!
Thank you Mike.
My gall bladder is now gone. Recovery is hopefully happening. I'm in cold snowy Ottawa but hoping to be bound for Florida in the next few weeks.
Ironically they have now decided to move that event to Feb 22 and I may be there after all.
