Hi
Did that years ago when it was Mt Egmont, nearly got blown off the top with extreme winds and did not quite make the very top as too dangerous without serious mountain gear.
Did Ann, Rosemary or the kids join you for the climb?
Great weather except for some cloud from 1500m to 2000m. Otherwise mild with very little breeze. Snow in the crater was the highlight.
Most of the Aussie HP Sprint Tourists made it to the summit including Mason, Torren and me. Sophie made it to the lower part of the scree slope before turning back with Milla, Tash, Nicola and Carl.
Anne and Rosemary did make it up Paritutu Rock on Tuesday, which was impressive.
Was wondering how it went.
I found it tough a few years ago, mainly because of the two steps forward one back. To cap it off, we arrived at the crater edge and couldn't go the short distance to the top because of the combination of sudden extreme wind and the hard wind-blown ice. I could see us being blown off that surface without an ice axe. So I have to go back and do it all again.
A few years ago I ran up and down 4x in about 13:35 or something (idiot), lots of fun on the descent in the powdery scree to the right of the Lizard as you go down.
