More like GUBU (Grotesque, unbelievable, bizarre, unprecedented) as Ireland’s record temperature is 33.3.

Tirty tree and almost a tird? Surely that has to be a joke?

O-ing has previously introduced me to the original use of GUBU - quite a story...(whatever misdeeds Australian politicians have committed of late, I don't think anyone has accused any of them of sheltering a murderer on the run).

The second U is definitely accurate, as the 9am temperature of 34.5 was the highest on record by a large margin - exactly how large a margin depends on whether you count pre-1972 observations when there was no daylight saving (and hence 9am equates to 10am now). There wasn't a single instance of a 30+ temperature between 1968 and 1998 (which covers all of the time I lived in Canberra).
