Oops! So embarrassing when your dog dislikes another dog and suddenly gets all fierce.

Yes - especially since he is ridiculously excited to see most dogs. He has poor impulse control and is fearful/reactive so that played into it. I was also on the ground so not sure if he was being protective.

Aw, he's still young. Do you think he intended to bite? Sometimes our dogs bare their teeth and growl to send a message to another dog, and that can turn into a bite by accident if someone gets in the way. Our gentlest-ever dog accidentally sent her dog sitter to Emerg that way. :(
