Charlie: Rhonda and I thought about coming, but our general fitness level made it seem like a pretty silly idea. Very well done!

PBricker: Would have been nice to see you guys! George and Lyn were no shows, even though conditions were perfect for Lyn to go for an age record.

To state the obvious: the best way to improve fitness level is to do a hard run, which a race makes you do (even if the time is slow). I'll probably keep doing these on Saturdays until we get a decent snowstorm.

walk: We thought about going, but (yawn!) rolled over and enjoyed a nice slumber. A pretty lazy day.

Nice running though, esp with "decent snowstorms" predicted for tomorrow night and again later in the week.

Charlie: I don't plan on any hard runs until I get this knee situation resolved. Seeing the doc on Tuesday. In the meantime, any run is a hard run.

walk: "George and Lyn were no shows"

BTW - Some people only show in fair weather conditions. When the going gets tough where are they?

PBricker: Walk: I didn't mean to suggest that Lyn is a slacker!

Charlie: Knee injuries are funny. I once had a knee injury that started hurting exactly at six miles on every run like clockwork, but it was OK as long as I stopped before that. Another time, I could run fast without my knee hurting, but if I ran slow, it killed me. Another time, I could run uphills OK, but downhills killed it. (Went to the the Escher gym to train.) Get better!

Charlie: This has generally hurt along the inside of the knee when walking, running, etc. A fair amount of soreness in the hamstring and the calf. I now think that the real source of all this is the upper medial calf, just below where it hits the knee. Ice, massage, gentleness with it. Not getting any better yet.

walk: Is this the same knee that got the mini-knife?

#  Posted 2008-01-13 23:26:48
Charlie: It is. I'm still of the mind that this was just a fifty-fifty chance, and doesn't mean there is a connection, but I guess I'll know more after I visit the doc on Tuesday.
