I believe Jorgen Martensson pointed out that back in the day they just called that "orienteering."
Some people will not remember when real orienteering was orienteering, and relay championship team featured four runners and a real physical test for each of them. None of this sauntering around for 25 or 30 minutes kind of thing and a couple passes through the arena for refreshments, rest breaks, and mid-race massages, etc.
40 years ago 'SF' was a West Point senior. How old is that user id? It has passed the test of time:).
Most (?) of the 'some people' above weren't even born then. How times change for better or for worse. And that answer is often "blowin' in the wind". When looking back or behind, I often shake my head about the path that took us forward.
