Thunk this up on my run. The original goal, sparked by Super lo those many years ago, of under 40 over 60 was a decade long motivator. But here's the new one:
A combined 5k and 10k time that is less than my age--for the rest of my life. Note that it has to be less than, if even by a second.
How's that for keeping one's feet to the fire? Kind of spooky to write it out even. I've got a good buffer with sub 57 at age 61, and I can fudge the emphasis a bit from 10 to 5k as time goes on. But things should start getting interesting in my 80's.

Yep. Like, for instance, tomorrow I get issued one more minute of 5k + 10k time allocation. Nothing wrong with that.
I think your buffer is at least 1 minute longer, probably 2, and up to 3.
That said as goals go this is a good one.
