....with Leigh woods this weekend - see picture from my strava from saturday https://www.strava.com/activities/3284861499
The public are being blamed & shamed, but how can everyone get it right when we're not being give consistent advice about what is & isn't acceptable outdoor activity?
The difference is that Leigh Woods is a destination - people would drive from all over Bristol to go there. People won’t think to drive to Newport Golf Club (not that there’s any parking open...) - so it will only ever attract people living nearby. People around Newport driving somewhere far more likely to go to Fourteen Locks (shut), Tredegar Park (shut), Tredegar House (shut), Belle Vue Park (shut), Beechwood Park (shut)... It’s almost as though they are all trying to stop people driving unnecessarily...
Ah, but people aren't (supposed to be) driving to Leigh woods now either - they've totally closed the driveway into the main car park (where the BOK events tended to park, BC - Before C'virus) - so most have to walk / run / bike there now. Cars parked near the Leigh woods housing bit are policed, tho I've not seen anything other than leaflets on their windscreens to date ..... my point is that if you've walked there & it's a PRW, & deserted, where's the harm?
