I think you were taking this Python class because you were worried about a reorg at work. What's happening now? Has COVID-19 changed anything? Has your boss lightened up? Any other rumors flying about? Any other career decisions for you?
Yes, the re-org happened back in December. I have given it the "old college try"...but I'm not excited about it. Every single one of my colleagues is deeply unhappy.
I have a new manager who is 28 years old and completely clueless about our business. His boss comes a finance background (not healthcare) and is equally clueless (e.g. after a week of huddling with my manager to create some COVID-19 Tableau dashboards, they convened a meeting of our entire analytics department for help coming up with a COVID-19 "insight" for executives; ummm...I would think the DIRECTOR OF ANALYTICS should be able to come up with his own insights?). One example of many...
My former boss (a great guy) gave his two weeks notice recently (he's a super-smart actuary with deep healthcare / managed care knowledge, so he found a new job really quickly).
I had a couple of phone interviews last week, and a few scheduled for this week. I don't want to leave -- I love my work, my peers, and my "customers" -- but the management situation is just awful.
On the other hand, my Python class is going well! ;-)
