You are the hero we need right now. You are the chosen one.
co-worker?! You still get to go to work? Crazy Americans...
Strangely I thought doughnut was an English thing and that Americans used donut (as we dumb Aussies now seem to be doing).
On researching, it appears 'doughnut' is commonly used in the US and that 'donut' is the Americanized version, research that seems to contradict itself.

I would think Australia would love the opportunity to shorten anything when possible! (eg: "arvo" and "ta" come to mind)
Phonetically, donut and doughnut are the same, but shaving a few keystrokes seems like a nice efficiency.
Yeah apparently I'm an "essential" employee. Which I think means "essential to my company wanting to make money instead of following the governor's order."
I'll be a "frontline worker" (although not essential because I don't get all the benefits they get) for the next two weeks, then I'm reduced to unnecessary status once more (unless I get my term renewed for another fortnight, or fortnite in the interests of saving a letter).
I think it should be fortnight, because fortnite just makes me think of the game.
