i’ve completely dropped training from my daily focus. i’m not sure why, since my big picture life is largely unchanged apart from a new project location which is a longer commute. but, i just haven’t felt motivated to run and i have felt motivated to work in our house and learn to cook/bake some new things so i’m just going with it. if USARA happens this fall i will need to get in shape fast !!!

I'm definitely having moments of "why am I doing all this?" right now. Coming back from taking last year off means that at least there's value in the build, I guess. And honestly, sometimes it's the only alone time I have during the day, which is reason enough to get outside.

That said, if Nationals is called, I think formal training will definitely taper off over here, too.

Hope you guys are well, Silky - if we make it to Wisconsin in September, maybe you'll bring some of those goodies you're baking :)

Interesting thread I can’t help but jump in on. My work is changing so rapidly and has been more stressful and ambiguous than normal. I have found that having “a box to check” has made a big difference for me! I might feel differently if everything gets cancelled. Trust me, I’m cooking and baking to fill other voids too! The women at the shelter love it. ❤️

What do you guys think? Is the season over, or are you expecting some events to run still?

W4J, no need to create boxes (cooking and baking) if you don't feel the need on top of training! but i (and prob your colleagues) won't stop you!

I think Nationals is still on? haven't heard discussion one way or another, and if I did I imagine it would be "it's too early to tell".

Right now we are planning to hold the Castlewood 8-Hour as normal, but that's a December 5th race so still way too early. We are accepting registrations as normal.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything about nationals canceling, or any talk of it. I was just curious what you/folks in your regions are feeling at this point. I'm kind of assuming events in the northeast/mid-atlantic will be canceled at least through June (sorry, strongmachine and kateness :( ). Hard to see beyond that, though we're in a major hotspot so I don't expect Philly to open up anytime soon.

In Michigan (#3 as a state right now) I’m guessing no AR for a while. I am signed up for 2 bike races. The June one I am worried about, the July one may have a chance because it’s small.

But the governor just ordered all Personal Protection Orders to remain through July 21 which makes me wonder if that’s some magical date to be worked backward from? Sigh.

PS: I like having ANY box to check just to feel like I have accomplished something. :)

I miss having races to focus on, but even more so I miss getting to go different places with friends. Still holding out minor hope that things will be ok enough in June that I can do an ITT version of my main race that was just postponed until October but who knows.
