Terry: Did you call AAA to tell them that you didn't need them anymore?

kupackman: Why did he get a ticket? Is it illegal to skid off the highway in bad weather?

Stinky Pete: Not illegal to skid out but it is illegal to not take the conditions of the road into account and drive too fast thereby putting others at risk.

I like the added bucket in the workout description. I may need to rotate that into my routine.

kupackman: But if the cop came later, how did he know that the guy was driving too fast for conditions? He could have tried to avoid another car, a deer, punctured a tire, etc...

Stinky Pete: when I was younger i was driving back across the north cascade hwy. i had drunk way to many root beers and decided to plow my car into a snow bank at the top. Of course it got stuck and I was in a kinda root beer daze (if you know what I mean). This was truely a stupid boy trick.

Well the WSP came along and guess what, the guy helped me push my car out of the snow. I couldn't beleive it. My girlfriend drove from there and i just drank more root beer.

Maybe that day he met his quota and in Eric's friend's case it was just too early in the month and the WSP gave him a ticket because he could.

ebone: Yes, he called AAA and canceled the service call. As to your question, kupackman, what gtrogers said is correct, and skidding off the road is taken as evidence of excessive speed or recklessness. The guy didn't say anything about other vehicles, animals, or equipment failure, so... I agree that it's a bit harsh, because it's easy to go off the road in those conditions (as evidenced by the many cars I saw that had), but it also makes some sense: It is dangerous, and it often disrupts traffic and creates an unsafe situation after the fact.
