.... I know we're locked down, so it doesn't *really* matter, but even so, after getting through 4 races in 4 days at POM (& good runs too*), calf surviving, this is really unlucky.

Hope it improves soon!

Its the perfect time to be injured Phil, you are wasting a good opportunity. Me too - can't even get an overuse injury. I've even stopped stretching and my persistent issue hasn't come back (although I'm not going to push that one).

Obviously I would run off a map before the first control if start is within 300m of the map edge I'm so keyed up to compete.

As undy says it's good timing. No point being fit (and running sub 20 5k's ;-) at the moment.
Hopefully I'm saving my running for when it matters. Also I'm quite enjoying cycling (and getting a little quicker ).

Welcome to my world! Sorry to read about the on-going problems with your calf. Actually I'm really enjoying the brisk walking I do - yesterday's an example where I averaged 8.3 m/k - not slouching and should keep me reasonably fit - and, perhaps more importantly, healthy until proper training can resume. Supplementing (like you) with cycling. I dont think full on competitive racing will return until the Autumn and, more potentially, next year. As everyone has noted, the timing is 'ideal' if you had to choose a time to experience this.

Like Undy I'm doing my best to get injured. Flat out time trials, no-prep road half marathon, etc. So far, nothing much to moan about apart from being stiff & sore all the time. (==being 55).

No doubt a calf will pop within minutes of the first proper race back post-lockdown. And all this "gain" now will be lost in a moment!

I'm hoping to time trial 10km in 40 mins & 10 miles in 70mins next, see how my project goes. Lifetime pbs? 31:58 & 55:20. How utterly DEPRESSING. :-)

Phil will be 56 by the time he next goes orienteering. I'm hoping to still be 55....

I hope you're right! When is the next O event! :-)

(tho OO Cup , which i wanted to do, is early August so I will still be 55 - unless it's cancelled)
