Very nice piece to begin the 2021 rowing season! You're in 3rd Place right now, in the 70-79 age group...competing world-wide! All your rowing during the Shutdown has definitely paid off.

Pleased by how well this has been going and by how generally beneficial it feels.

I see that you have not been rowing much. I can understand how 25 days of 5K in March would be a bit wearing. Not sure whether I will keep it up, but at least I will try to keep at it, even 2K at a time. So much better than 0K for months on end, which often happens.

Yes I really should get back to doing....something! In the last couple of workouts in March I started having back issues. Rest hasn't improved them. So maybe some exercise?

I find that back issues usually arise from something else. Exercise is good. Rolling the legs and butt is often helpful to my back, really a sort of self massage. On the rowing machine, pay attention to form (you probably already do). Don’t overdo it. 25 5ks in a month may be too many. coach seems to use the rowing machine effectively: probably 4-5 times a week, 2-5k per time, lots of supplementary exercises.
