Real Americans drive trucks, dontcha know. They don't need crosswalks. Who are you, some sort of communist?

I counted trucks vs cars today on my ski. 23 trucks, 14 cars, over two hours. Very different ratio than eastern MA.

No crosswalks.

I often count sensible vehicles vs. ridiculous vehicles out here in Silicon Valley. (The distinction is entirely subjective.) It's normally about 50% ridiculous.

Only 50%? Do you count family SUVs as ridiculous? They are ridiculous, though maybe not in the way you are judging.

I count luxury cars, most SUVs, and trucks that don't look like they're being used for truck purposes as ridiculous. By my estimation, Palo Alto has more luxury cars and SUVs than gratuitous trucks.

That sounds about right for PA, although the ski set probably has 4WD they need for the three days they go over the mountains in a blizzard (and that's a tricky one, because you can't really use snow tires in the Bay Area in the winter).

Of course, we really should be referring to them as sensible vehicles and silly vehicles.
