If a orienteer was to theoretically go to Sweden on vacation. One would assume that there are still local events going on? Or maybe even larger more formal events? If theoretically someone was daydreaming about doing such a thing - how would that person go about finding out whats happening there?
Go to the Swedish Eventor page, where you'll see that all their events are cancelled!
Finland and Norway are having events https://eventor.orientering.no/Events
Here is what a friend of mine wrote 'Because of the koronarules it was only 5 organisers at the arena. Not more than 50 persons can be gathered. Girls and boys were split in two seperate parts of the arena, and the start was spread out in more than 4 hours.'
Yes, local events are happening in Sweden. On the Eventor event calendar select "All events (including local and club events)" and then probably select a particular region to filter the long list.
The 50 person limit is still in place though so a lot of this is just a map and you run by yourself whenever. But there are some actual training races with SI. In our local area there are 4 clubs and we take turns organizing small events with SI. Pre-registration only, no services at the arena and start list spread out to avoid crowds.
Here opening up, mostly not cancelled, but there is 460 or 920 (morning + afternoon) participant limit. First real race last weeked sold out in 2 days. Calendar:https://irma.suunnistusliitto.fi/irma/public/compe...
Then there is lots of midweek events, some of them are still semi permanent print your own pdf ones. https://www.rastilippu.fi/
Not sure orienteering tourism will qualify as essential traffic.https://www.raja.fi/current_issues/guidelines_for_...
In Finland there is now about 25 new daily covid-19 cases. Currently 28 in hospital and 4 in intese care. Flattend but not dissappeared entirely.
