There's a nest not far upriver from where you were. We saw two in the nest a while back. Its harder to see now that the leaves are out but there are definitely at least a pair of bald eagles on the river.

Interesting! We couldn't think of any other bird in the area that would meet the description but it was flying away from us upriver.
