I gotta try to make time for some LSD.

Did DeMar ever make ANY money from running?

No. He was very conservative...he would sell tickets for a lower class to have more spending money for the trip not for profit. He was open minded by the end of his career on what the younger guys did. He never owned a car as far as I could tell and he could be cantankerous. When a dog barked at him one time he reacted in a way the owner did not like and the owner slugged him. He got into it with over eager fans during races. He tried a special diet for at least a year, monitored by a doctor and he concluded it had not done him any good at all and went back to his regular diet which was pretty healthy anyway.

I have threatened to do this for a long time but always chickened out and tried to increase pace and distance. This is incredibly slow, but it has jumped up to 80's when I'm running now and that is slowing me some anyway. I am literally playing mind games and running if not one step at a time very very short goals. It's weird how much slower I'm going when I just add a mile.

Jim Ryun at one of his camps said something about when you get to hour forty minutes some sort of extra effect or benefit kicks in. I've never really heard that specific a statement. What I'm hoping is that by running around hour and half at least twice a week will help me by the end of the summer finally break through to a new level of fitness.

Good luck Paul (Bunyan). The history of Boston Marathon and ole DeMar is something else.

Yeah, I've read that as well. Maybe Peter Snell... 1:4-1:45 and you start building more slow twitch fibers or something.
