I have heard of hiking endlessly through Ikea, but not through Myer. I hope Stanley likes shopping.
Bendigo Myer is good because kids stuff right in the front then you can use it as a cut through to the other street.
I used to use Myer and David Jones in the city in Perth as air-conditioned shortcuts through the city. Very handy. Just have to avoid the perfume ladies because those sprays have a good range...
Mall walking is definitely a thing in the US; Minneapolis is particularly famed for it, which may say something about Minneapolis's climate (and perhaps about a desire to minimise encounters with the local police force).
In a Bendigo winter Myer is a good place to warm up, though today was pretty mild.
In Sydney you could walk a fair distance in the arcades underneath town hall without having to go outside, useful in a Sydney rain storm.
I had a job once where the most recent contractor on site had to go and buy doughnuts from an old doughnut shop in that rabbit-warren. There was a specially preserved map replete with doughnut proofing to get there which I needed for at least the first 3 visits.
