The sun went away later in the morning so he would have lost the shadow if he'd ridden longer.

The driver was dick, beeped and then cut close behind me to turn left when all he needed to do was wait a few milliseconds and I would have been clear.

At least your driver waited (albeit impatiently). The one I encountered this morning decided the best course of action was to cut across in front of me.
