>80% of Canadians want the border to remain closed for the foreseeable future and almost 60% want it closed until at least 2021. I hope things in the US get turned around quickly and that Canada doesn’t see a big rise in cases (but it seems inevitable). At the rate things are going in a bunch of states in the US, the US will win the BK Cup at NAOC next year by default. Travelling to the US (even if permitted) just seems unwise for a long, long time.

Perhaps that might change a bit on 04 Nov...

We are so, so sad to not be able to get to our cottage this summer. Sylvia loved it so much last summer and I know would even more this summer. It would be such a good, isolated place to be, if we were allowed to get there. But I completely understand why the border is closed and am just hoping we might be able to make it up (vaccinated? quarantined + tested before/after?) next summer at this point.

Not sure what to do about NAOC...

Hi Ali, Congrats!

I was wondering if you were able to get to Kahshe Lake this summer. That's too bad. There are a lot of American owned cottages in Georgian Bay too. Do you have somebody making sure cottage is OK (Digby?).

When the border re-opens and you get up to the cottage we need to get together. We have a new lidar O map in Parry Sound (75 minutes from Kahshe). :-)

I'm also getting Lidar flown at Torrance Barrens which is only 20-30 minutes from your cottage. Though being an astronomer I'm sure you know about Torrance already.

That's a really interesting looking area, Mike.

Thanks Mike!

Think my uncle has made sure someone is checking on the cottage, haven't heard of anything amiss yet.

For sure, it would be great to visit in Parry Sound and the Torrance Barrens look amazing too. Hadn't heard it was a Dark Sky Preserve before now, actually! As long as we're allowed, I'm planning for a good long visit next summer which should easily allow us to get together!

Oh man, the COCs are so close to Missoula next year! Though the combination of circumstances that has us still living in Missoula and also allows us to travel safely into Canada seems unlikely..
