Looks like an amazing playground! Congrats!

There aren't many old maps in that area so it must be Kolapore!

Kolapore area is more of a Bash and Bent type place than ABC 1.0 and given your history with the trails it makes for an even more awesome choice.

field is overgrown now but here!'48.7%...

Will you be able to access the Bruce from your place going south to Mitchells Hill area?

WHen is the first home to home Bruce Trail run FKT attempt being made?

Congrats again!

Thanks, Baloney!

Hammer, I *knew* you would figure it out before dinner time. :) Yup, that's our future cottage. I'd better get this foot injury resolved because a home-to-home Bruce Trail run sounds like a lot of fun.

We calculated today that it will be a 35 km Bruce Trail (mostly) run from our new place to Bob & Shannon's new place. Or a 10-minute drive on a paved road. Or a mountain bike ride through Pretty River over to the Kolapore trail network.

We'll back onto Crown Land. (With hunting in season - boo.) There is a 600 m gap between our property and the Bruce Trail. One of the founders of the Kolapore Wilderness Trails, Bruce King, is an old friend who lives nearby. He's kindly offered to help us route a trail to the BT and the ski trail network.

You can see our GPS tracks from the day when we checked out what would be involved in reaching the trail network from the house. We ran out of time before the showing and couldn't join the two ends. This is the trail to the back of the property. Satellite view recommended.

And this is the Bruce Trail with some bushwhack exploration north and east of the trail (from approx. 1.7 to 2.5 km mark on my track). Unfortunately, the field is hip-height vegetation because things could have been really simple. The SW corner of our lot is the NE corner of the field with the weird block of trees in it.

Most of the properties either have a house in poor shape, perhaps with baseboard heaters and no basement or garage, or they have a monster mansion with 6 bathrooms and a price to match.
This one has acreage and a small, efficient but nice house, backing on to a great area.

I'll need some advice on brush cutters- our battery powered grass trimmer will choke on the big weeds in the fields between us and the Bruce trail.

That looks like an excellent launch point for adventures.

We look forward to welcoming Attackpoint friends to stay at our new, yet-to-be-created campsite! Our Palgrave campsite and fire pit are still available for visiting too.

Should be excellent mountain biking out the door. Also some amazing trail running, along with cliffs with caves and rock climbing. Weather permitting, this is the best backcountry skiing in central Ontario, with 60km of ungroomed but cleared trails.

No water, but the Beaver river is 10 min away, Lake Eugenia 14 min and Georgian Bay is 20 min.

So exciting, such an underrated area. Also close to the Ravenna Country Market which is a favourite of mine.

Very nice! Is that a walk out basement? That is a majestic tree btw.

It's a good-sized walk-out mudroom - probably used as the main entrance to the house most of the time. The unfinished basement is just past that room. Otherwise, all the living space is one one floor - not that big. The official front door is up the deck stairs but there isn't even a coat hook there so I think it's mostly for show.

As the Treehuggers, we look forward to spending quality time with that tree. :)

Anvil, the Ravenna Country Market is 5 minutes away so if you come up to camp, you can grab a buttertart and a latte after your run. Then we could design a WOD consisting of moving rocks to build a fire pit. ;)
