We miss seeing our orienteering friends at the Canadian Orienteering Championships (COCs). If you do too, join us for a virtual COCs Banquet and Silent Auction.

Join us on Sunday Aug 16th on Zoom for a Banquet. We’ve got menus for you to try, an orienteering-theme dessert contest, trivia, some time for small group chatting and – of course – a silent auction!!

Visit the website for all the details on both the Banquet and the Auction and to register for the Banquet (no charge).

We're also on the hunt for items for our silent auction. The auction will start on Aug 7 and will run until the end of the Banquet. We've started to post some of the items on the auction site that we'll be using. The annual auction is a key fundrasier for Orienteering Canada's High Performance Program. We'd be most grateful if you have something to donate.

Thank you!!!!! We had a fun virtual Banquet this evening with over 50 orienteers from across the country. And we are thrilled that over $7330 was raised in the Auction to help our High Performance Program. An enormous thanks to the donors and bidders.

Hopefully the auction will get back to a live and in person format next year but I strongly suggest there be an on-line version as well before the COC banquet night. This builds interest and my experience with other organizations is that it greatly increases revenue, too.
The other thing I observed was that the items made available on-line were, on average, of higher quality than the auction items available at a banquet. Good on you for that. An original Ted de st Croix painting? a Bryan Chubb? Great stuff!! Hopefully next year you can also snare a Brenot wood carving. Year after year I keep getting outbid on the Footsteps of the Group of Seven book. I guess I'll have to go to Amazon.
I don't know what you paid for the auction service but from this bidder's perspective the service was great. I bid on three items and was immediately told when I was outbid on two and when I had successfully bid on the third.

I got outbid twice on a Charlotte MacNaughton painting! (Shakes fist at Hammer...)

Yes Gord, the auction platform is impressive. We've looked at them before but the base price was too high given what we bring in at the Auction. They changed their pricing model during COVID to a percentage of proceeds. If they keep this pricing model past COVID, I have no doubt that we'll have a combo on-line / in person version in future.
