Yes. Bit different looking at the watch, but it works well. As you arrive at each control, the code comes up on the display, so not much different to real O, confirm, and move on

As far as I can tell, this might work on quite a few watches... which are you using?
I found this list on the Garmin web site and assume it is applicable to maprunf.

I'm using the 935, but you also need the latest MapRunF on the phone. I think it is version 5 and above, I have 5.0.9
