I've noted an increase in turkeys around here, but still picking ticks somewhat regularly. Picked two embedded deer ticks off this week. Can't be 100% certain, but feel I'm likely picking them up around the yard moreso than when out running.
I came upon a flock of turkeys last night during my walk, but I'm wondering if my lack of ticks is more that I'm spending the majority of my hiking time in Westford and Groton, instead of more remote parts of the world.
We have a fair number of turkeys this year, and almost none of the large wood ticks. Maybe other factors involved, but not having a dog anymore seems like it might be a factor. I’ve been working in the woods quite a bit. A few deer ticks, no trouble with FDFs. However, this is a pretty spidery year. I’ve had a number of likely spider bites, and there are a lot of webs around.
My house is chock full of spiders.
