Wow... glad you found a place to have it looked at.

We have the Tilghman name in the Allentown area too...some PA Supreme Court Justice in the late 1700s/early 1800s was named Tilghman, and was related to the MD Tilghmans near where you biked.

There's a lot of pre-revolutionary history down there. Even the ferry I took first ran almost 350 years ago.
