The inaugural Challenge the Shield 6-hour Adventure Race has been rescheduled from October 3, 2020 to October 2, 2021 (same weekend one year later).

More details will be on the web site early this fall.

We are still hoping to be able to host a limited entry social distanced 3 hour winter event in late March, 2021. We need to wait for the XC ski schedule to be released before we can set our race date due to race location availability.

The Challenge the Shield events are hosted by volunteers as a fund raiser for the Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre in association with the not-for-profit organization Get Outdoors Parry Sound.

Wil Smith and I are working together to design and host our first adventure race. We are both former North American orienteering champions and live in Nobel (same street actually) Ontario on the door step of Canadian Shield wilderness made famous by the Wilderness Traverse adventure race.

Wil has many years of experience designing XTERRA race courses and I have designed and organized many of DontGetLost's popular adventure running Raid series.

Together we have designed an adventure race format that, we believe, removes several of the barriers to entry to AR while still offering a very challenging race course for the very best teams.

Next year's race was tested by Wil and I this fall (around the same date we had originally chosen for this year's race before cancellation) and the course is pretty darn awesome.

Looks great! You should also establish a Facebook presence. Wilderness Traverse and Orienteering Ontario have had a surge of followers there since Eco-Challenge.
