nice report and great photos. i’ll need to consult it for future birthday plans. Killarney is my fave place in Canada. I wish I visited there more often.
That's really beautiful. It's nice to see areas like that that don't require traveling to the left side of the continent.
There are also some nice areas near Lake Superior and in Québec. In these Covid times, we'll do more exploring closer to home and it's not the worst thing!
We trekked that portage on my birthday a few weeks ago. We were thinking the start and end would be tricky with a canoe. Not as bad as some of the 'unofficial portages' in the Parry Sound area but it must be one of the more difficult sections in Killarney
I was at the trail junction directing the canoe carriers ('Bent, Mick and Timato) so I got to see each of their horrified facial expressions when they saw the cliff. We went up on a wet day so it was extra nasty. On the way back down three days later, it was dry at least.
Not the easiest with a cedarstrip canoe and full pack, but actually looked worse than it was.
