I think that 12-13 was when his chain fell off!
a win is a win !
OK I just saw that that had happened and wondered how I beat him as even tho I was going flat out he would have been just idling along faster then me. On that section I also passed about 8 MTBs going the other way really fast in a 4 by 4 peloton a la tour de France style.
You got me on no. 10 as well! That was where I really thought my chain was going to pop off, so I braked all the way down that rough track.
Yes it was rough - I got stuck in the muddy area going to 10 after I slowed down there. BTW which way did you go to 1? I went wider via 12 and approached it from the north - but had to walk the bike up most of that short hill where the so-called medium riding track joined the fast riding one as the dirt mounds were a bit too steep and eroded.
I just checked your trace and see you did a different choice initially to 1 and you also saw the more direct track from near 11 to 12 while I zig zagged to it - but all the rest are the same route choices.
Which way did you go to 1? via 12 is really wide, I'm sure the firetrail just west of 11 is better. Mind you Winsplits has me down for a mistake on 1, but I thought that was just slow uphill. I did ride all the way, even on those bumps near the flag. Actually, looking at it again I think all the no. 1 "mistakes" are due to a ridiculously fast time from Monica L. who supposedly beat Seb by a minute and a half on that leg.
I'm pretty sure the rough track left from 3 to 4 would have been better than the gates to the right, and same again back from 4 to 5. I didn't want to ride that track because I thought my chain would come off on it either way.
The start of the route choice to 1 is often the same way I ride on a Friday so I was operating on habit rather than reading the map. Bit further but I think the climb is a bit gentler. As I said earlier my route choice to 4 and 5 was less than optimal - glad you agree.
