Such good news about the green cards.
Sucks about the rejection. I don’t understand...why would you get good reviews and be rejected? Do you resubmit to same, or to different?
"Not of sufficient impact given the large number of submissions we are currently receiving." So got to go somewhere else. Has happened twice now - really heartbreaking.
So happy that your green cards are in hand. Good news these days is infrequent and most joyous when found. USA is a better place with you here.
Yay! Congrats on your green cards! Sorry you had to wait so long, but they did finally arrive, so that's good news.
Hope you find an outlet for your article.
And, happy birthday on Sunday to Euan!!!
Congrats on the green card.
Did you consider appealing the paper? The editor should make judgments on impact *before* sending it for review. If I were a reviewer (assuming the reviews really are good), I wouldn't be reviewing for them, for nothing* again in a hurry.
*Nothing in both senses!
Every field's different, but I was a journal editor for 10 years and only once overruled a recommendation from reviewers to publish (and that was because I knew about a problem with the underlying data set for the paper that the reviewers had missed).
Happy birthday to Euan. And congrats to you for surviving the first year. Keep enjoying as they all are fun.
And good news for you on the Green Cards.
Congratulations, and happy birthday to Euan. Already a year old? Wow. Seems so fast.
Thanks everyone!
Re. The journal - I’ve been out of this sub field for a while and turns out this editor is well known for doing exactly this, and he improves the impact factor of his lower tier journal by offering transfers without review into that. Huge racket apparently that I wasn’t aware of because I’ve not been in that realm for a while. A bunch of people no longer review for them. I won’t have anything to do with them either!
Oh ffs. That's a disgrace. Every day our belief in altruism takes a knock.
One would hope that the citation index providers stop listing journals that engage in that sort of behaviour (and I believe that has at least been threatened in some cases).
