Ruben was faster than you today.

And Rohan

Second course doesn't count. He should be n/c.

Ruben did well. He was faster than Edmund through the first few controls of the E course while punching a few extra controls along the way.

Tooms:
Rohan went out on his second run to specifically be faster than Ruben - and wasn't. And Rohan is the fastest runner of the 3 lads duking it out on the E.

Maybe Ruben and Sten should be a relay team together next week, just so Ruben can drag the average team pace up.

The 2015 Victorian Relays were notable for two things: it was the last time I broke 6 minutes/km, and I had a head-to-head battle with Aston which was decided in the finish chute. Not sure which one of these two is less likely to ever happen again.

I'm sure you can have a head to head with Aston in the finish chute again. Just he'll be third leg runner and you'll be finishing second leg.

Talk about running too fast on the first couple, Craig's 2:33 to #1 barely rates a mention compared to my 2:02 on the same first control. I went out way too fast and got pretty tired by our #7.

It looks as though 1 was in the wrong spot judging by TBT but that would only account for 5-10 seconds of the difference as you lost some time too. It is interesting that the map on TBT is different to what we had on the day and it matches what I was seeing from 1-2 better. I ran through the creek junction shown on TBT and assumed it was the one on my map which was drawn in the previous gully. That meant I was still expecting to have another 100m to run when I realised I was directly below the control.

You could be right, I'm certainly sure all the tracks on my way from 16-17 were wrong. That would account for my 5min error. I claim a moral victory over Tooms.

I finally had a look at TBT and yes it's a very different map. My #12 it looks like I most definitely went into the watercourse where it's shown on the competition map (it was very well defined) but then looped back to the southern one and back around from the bottom to find it on the second go. I really didn't know how I could have run over the watercourse twice without seeing it and how I could have been standing in a watercourse not seeing the control when I'd clearly run through one just a bit to the south, unless it was hidden behind a bush.
