Discussion: Group workouts

I've been wondering when that might happen, given the sharp rise in cases per capita in Alberta and the considerable mobility between Calgary and smaller towns, as well as tourism in the Rockies. It's been kinda looking like the sh*t was about to hit the fan for a while. Sorry to welcome you to the club that nobody wants to belong to. :(

We've been really fortunate all summer with almost no cases which, as per your point, is a little surprising given the amount of traffic we get to and from Calgary. These new numbers aren't big but do represent the fact that "some" has arrived. In Lake Louise they are especially challenged with such a close community, staff accommodation, etc.

Hopefully the delay represents the lower risk of outdoor activities, which is likely where many tourists and locals spent time with other people over the summer. It's a good winter to be a skier or snowshoer. It will soon be too cold for most people to sit outside for conversations so I guess we'll have to keep moving!

Outdoor gear sales have been crazy. Lots of people getting into cross country skiing. Once folks are on the trail and spread out, it probably won’t be an issue but the parking at the trailheads is already overflowing and causing issues. It happened in the spring too.

Coach LD told us that the XC ski pro shop where Goose works on weekends will be mostly sold out of gear by the end of November. She shared this conversation that he had with some people who don't know whether they'll be able to downhill ski this year.

"We'd like to take up cross-country skiing."
"Great! Classic or skate?"

Firmly: "Cross-country skiing."
"All right then. Let's look at some equipment."

A while later: "Why aren't you showing us the most expensive skis?"
Surprised silence while inside voice said: "Because you probably won't use it after this season."

Explaining further: "I was planning to spend $5,000 per person."
Smiling poker face while thinking: "I can't get your bill that high no matter how hard I try!"
