You are REALLY far up north!

How long did it take to get there?

All-day night-O?

Almost at the Arctic Sea!

If you look at Google maps it says 12h from Helsinki to here. We did it in 10h30min on the way up. Will see how it goes tomorrow.

Sunrise is at 11:30 and Sunset 12:30 but the usable daylight is about 9:00am to 1:00pm. And the snow makes it easier.

Hah, I hadn't noticed that Guy had already made pretty much the identical comment here to what I said later on the other thread. Excuse my redundancy.

But as long as I'm being redundant, I'll echo what Ghoslo said on the other thread: Nice going, that is quite a week of training.

I would sure like to visit northern Finland myself for Rovaniemin Jukola. But I'm not optimistic, partly because I might not be able to fit it in my time and money budget for 2021, mostly because I'm doubting that Finland will allow American visits by June. (Maybe Canadians will be allowed sooner than us?)

After three straight years of orienteering in Finland, 2020 is ending my string. (Pretty sure I'm not going to be visiting Finland in the next 2.5 weeks!) Would like to start another string in 2021 but it might have to wait until 2022 when most of us will have been vaccinated.

Suomi on erinomainen maa. Erityisesti suunnistus. [Suomeni kieli ei ole niin hyvä. Herra Google auttoi minua.]

Well if we are thinking of Jukola, the organizers have said that they will make it happen next summer, any way possible. Even if it means 1000 or 50 teams attending, it will happen. So you just gotta get on one of the good teams to secure a spot at Rovaniemi ;)

Google translate isn't effective with Finnish yet...
