Nicely done! And a good write-up too. I was wondering (before you brought it up at the end) why you hadn't gone around in the other direction to play the wind better.
As it was, did you take turns drafting each other when it was in your face?
First 25k direction was dictated by the direction of the official race course. Bonus loop i guess didn't occur (to me at least) until after we departed and were on our way. Not much intentional drafting...
Wow, not bad! Your eclectic exercise streak is apparently keeping you in pretty fair shape.
I thought about drafting Clint, but didn't do too much of it. Mostly I was thinking about where the best footing would be, which was sometimes where he was, but other times elsewhere. He probably couldn't have gotten much advantage from drafting me, because I'm too much of a shrimp.
As Clint says, we didn't really think about the wind when we went out for the third loop, and what we had in mind (or at least I did) was picking a good (authorized) place to cut through the dunes to see what the interior looked like, and those trails are easier to spot on the marsh side. I suspect they all would have been slow going on soft sand, as well.
Made me think of that rogaine we did together, and the discussion as we were heading in to puzzle out what we would most like to eat when we were done, and Megan took care of it.
