Since you named me I'll comment on YOUR site rather than mine. :-) The thing is you've run about 4 miles the last 2 years and you go out and run 10 miles at what would be a really fast pace for me and you even walk and still run a decent pace for that distance. Hopefully the walking will allow you to control your heart rate better.

What I found was whether starting really slow and/or using the walking breaks I could still get into a rhythm it just took longer (and of course kills the per mile average...no doubt you were running 5 min pace when not walking). Great run! Now Jay needs to fix his knee and get back to it also.

Nah, I was probably jogging at around 9:30 pace and kept the walking breaks fairly short. When my HR started to climb, later in the run, into the 150's I would walk.
And, yes, Jay needs to get back on the road.
