your roof? That sounds dangerous.
Borrowed a snow rake from my neighbor. I was standing on the ground the whole time. The only risk is pulling snow onto yourself, but you develop the technique to avoid that pretty quickly.
Never heard of a snow rake before. Definitely sounds better than getting up on the roof.
It looked a lot like this
. Our neighbors like things spit-spot as Mary Poppins used to say.
I have one, and have certainly used it from time to time. It is only good for so much, though, because my roof is pretty high up, and I can only reach the lower part with the snow rake. There was a time when things got so out of hand that I hired a couple of guys to climb up on the roof and actually shovel it off. That was not a job I had much interest in doing myself.
Just the edges are cleared, not the entire roof, in the interest of avoiding ice dams as much as possible.
That year we had enough on there that it seemed prudent to get it all off. And yes, we also had ice dams. It was gross. The roof got replaced that following summer.
