That just means you got close to the setter's optimal.
For the record, we had an event at Mullaloo a few weeks back where the setter declared mine to be the best route because I came in well under his optimal route, until Craig came in 400m shorter than mine (albeit involving sand along the beach, which I intentionally avoided).
