I have never been up where you looked to go. On the 'O' map there is no through path and it's dark green with a big cliff! The map can not be too accurate if you managed to get up. What did you have that made you think it's a viable route?
When we did a Frenchay BOK tuesday night run a couple years ago, we ran out & down the small valley to the west side of the river, and then - with difficulty - ran along the riverside path until (see below). It was lethal then & even worse now!
Actually looking at the map, the path I was on stops & then it's marked impassible
https://www.bok.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#169 - i crawled up past an impressive piece of sandstone & then got to the top. & could run again.
& the BOK run is here - we climbed out via the ruin thing:

Yes I remember the run. I stuck to the paths on the map although they were interesting. You looked to go somewhere totally impassable on the O map. I am impressed you made it through. If it's really passable along by the river there it would be interesting to do it as an alternative on a Tuesday run. On the O map it's 200-300m of dark green so stay well clear.
There was no real "dark green" boundary - there was a crap thin path which was v slippery, and in my trainers (not trail shoes) it was suicide, so I found a thin path going up to this big impressive sandstone outcrop, and used tree roots to pull up. Once on top I found the impassible fence, & a small path alongside this quickly brought me out to the path/roads in Begbrook above.
I had no O map with me, just Turf game on my iphone, which i was clutching (!).
I think it's all mapped as dark green because the slope is really treacherous & not suitable for orienteering due to that. It's not thick vegetation.
When we are looking to get unlocked and I need to get some running in I will probably go and explore. Just looking to get along by the river really. If it joined up the area would be a lot more flexible usage wise. You need to go and run it every day for a while and that will get us a good path...
No thanks! I'd need to change into dobs at the start of the path!
I didnt' have the O map on me but looking at it afterwards, I wasn't sure the awseome chunk of sandstone was mapped entirely correctly ..... (within the dark green area!)
