Good drill for that - practice putting the poles down a hair before the ski. That actually engages the upper body a lot more, and produces much more power, but you don’t want it to turn into a full V2-alt. Called “Lee borowski’s ‘the drill’” in various NENSA L100 handouts, if you have any of those.
