That doesn't look too terrible! Glad to hear it helped. :-)
It looks like an external it band!
Suzanne, it looks to me like an external sartorius muscle which runs from the outside of the hip to the inside of the knee and helps stabilize the knee.
Cristina, glad to hear you have something now that's helping!
Oooh! That does what my compression tights do, and when I foam roll along that line, there is total happiness. Glad to hear this is working for you. Might have to research that a bit, myself.
Nice to have a scientific way to get you back running and a plan to fix it. It does look like a cool contraption.
It feels a little funny to wear and while running I feel like my knees are miles apart. Really they're probably a normal distance apart, it's just that I've gotten used to my dysfunctional butt allowing my knees to come together when I run.
Thanks Canadian for the clarification!
Let's see if you turn out to be a sexy trendsetter on this. (I notice it's from the same company that brought is those sexy bionic knees.)
I have that rotation going on when skiing. I'd be curious to hear about the PT exercises that go along with the SERF strap.
igoup, the exercises are pretty simple so far, mostly basic butt stuff. The ones that feel the most impactful are with a resistance band just above the knees: side walking and one-foot balance where I pull the upper leg back. I think that sort of imitates running and forces my gluteus medius to work.
Yep, those sound familiar...
