I was up in Maine harvesting my uncle's sap (12 taps) and bringing it to a friend of his who boils. There were about 4 gallons from the week ending Friday, but my cousin reports 2 in the past 24h and flowing strong. The next week looks great!

Do you boil on wood or propane?

I built a small reverse osmosis system that takes out 3/4's of the water. Then I boil in 2 electric fryers in sequence to finish it off. Works great, except last night I got distracted for an hour and half the first batch ended up as burned taffy.

How much effort is it to build a "small reverse osmosis system"? Asking for a friend.

Can't find the original web page, but these guys copied it exactly and seem to be claiming credit. I spent about $200 putting it together.

I have a list of the sources and prices for specific parts. Also a guide for using and cleaning the RO membranes. Nothing difficult. I'll scan and emial it if you'd like.
