So which way do the bullets bounce?

The bullets shatter and drop to the ground with a perpendicular hit. No ricochet with a low velocity .22 unless it's at a shallow angle and little energy has been absorbed.

Of course, the target in question is where you're going to park you car, so bullet proof windows would be in order.
