Is Mike #34 getting the hell out of the way of the Mieto train coming through?
Mar 27, 2021 9:07 PM #
Sudden:
Not sure. Never seen him do classic so don't what it would look like.

Hammer:
Yeah that was probably me as #34 though I only double pole for classic these days Hans.

0.01 seconds wow. I wonder what their VO2 was?

Sudden:
You are with the times Mike - it is all double poleing these days. W wanted to share the gold medal but wasn't allowed. We have been at the finish line Mike. 15 years ago?

15 years ago this week we won the US Relay Champs at the Pig. You, Bash, Adams and I. Is that way you are referring to?

April 1st 15 years ago. That was a muddy weekend and thinking back it is amazing thinking that Patrick Goeres didn’t make that relay team.

Nev-Monster:
I think I bailed literally the last minute on that trip and running the relay.
Hammer: how many US Relay champs have you won?

Hammer:
I think i’ve been on the winning team 3 times. The sweetest US Relay champs win was Ontario upsetting NB in 1996 at US Roundup in Harriman. Me, Nina, Innes and Donaldson taking down Doug Mahoney and the Smiths (Wil, Sandy and Mike)

That 1996 trip was epic, I ran with Gabor, Alex Kerr and a young Danilo.

Did you win the US Champs at Valley Forge?

Bash:
I don't think Patrick was worth enough points - too young and too male. Isn't that how the relay worked?

That 1996 US Roundup remains one of my favorite orienteering trips in memory (despite the relay debacle...)

I'm sure you hardly have brought it up to your brother in the past 25 years Wil.

Hmm, I don't remember much about Valley Forge. I recall Donaldson doing very well that weekend in M21 despite still being a junior. I remember two short? distance races in the same day but don't remember a relay. What year was that Nev?

Maybe when I'm packing up stuff at 99Bond I'll dig up the old maps. My map collection is in a bit of a mess at the moment (map binders fell off a shelf, some broke, and maps got mixed up between years - the horror)

Nev-Monster:
That sounds right with the double Short on one day, I think Nina and Mark Adams were there. Maybe me, Nina, Dave, Mike versus Pam,?, Mark and Wil.

Haha this discussion about relays has me thinking of the Ontario Relay champs at Mansfield story. Four people per team and it was green, white, green, green for courses. You were lead off and I anchored. Remember what I said to you Nev when you came up the finish line?

Ha, Nevin demonstrating that trying to drop the pack going to the 2nd control isn't a wise move (I dropped them by going the wrong way). Knew I had a brutal run but luckily Mike tells me "Don't worry, we've been lapped" as I finish. Somehow still won thanks to my mom, Dave Anderson and Mike! And TOC doing strange stuff.
