But possibly after seeing today's results, you may not be quite as envious...
Yeah today was a bit rubbish.
Yes, today looks like it must have been super tough. I was less envious seeing that, but Craig seemed to be more envious.
Does Craig like Kangaroo Crossing?
The event info did say that the vegetation is greener now than when the courses were planned under drought conditions, so that probably does make run rates up to 20% slower (presuming they figured this out too late to shorten the courses?) but even so the courses must originally have been set on the long side!
And then the organisers' decision not to provide water made things so much worse for people who had already been out in the sun for quite a while :(
Andrew Smith (the only M21E finisher with a time longer than mine) and his lady friend asked how I managed with just the one bottle out there. He'd taken a Camelbak but I think even he'd run out or very low by the water drop. I'm all about dehydration.
My 12:11 start tomorrow is going to be awesome with the forecast for Forbes to be 31.
It was less than halfway through Kangaroo Crossing when Craig lost his SI stick. He was going well up to that point. He usually likes anything that slows others down and causes them to make more mistakes.
Super tough with length of courses/ carrying water. Look after yourselves and recover well tonight. Good luck for tomorrow.
Angus Haines lost his SI stick yesterday (not sure at what point) but still recorded a result.
Craig realised he didn't have his SI stick when he tried to punch the next control. He tried to re-trace his steps and looked for it for a long time but with no success. I'm assuming the only way Angus got a result is he managed to find it again and continue his course.
Nope he punched his map. Don't know where he lost the stick but he has no splits listed. As far as I'm aware the only way to get a result is to have your SI, all the punches or all the punches after you've lost the stick and someone hands in the SI for the remaining result. If he only had some punches and no SI then that couldn't give a result.
He did have a GPS tracker but that can't possibly be used to give a legit result.
After running through a spiderweb yesterday, Andy looked down to see a huge spider on his forearm and momentarily freaked out flicking his arm out to shake off the spider. Unfortunately both the spider and his SI card flew off :) Luckily the SI card was quickly recovered and he continued on!
