Not thinking that being MIA for both weekends was a bad choice!

Agree with you Richard - the one redeeming feature of the events for me was that I carried water and snakes (lollies) for all races in a running vest and they helped me survive given the very loooong winning times.

It was an excellent choice!

LOST Richard - I too made a late decision (family reasons better option) to withdraw. Felt wimpy but with me not being very bush hardened over the past 3 years it would have left me totally despondent.

Can confirm, would be totally despondent if not for fluking one OK run and setting a field on fire

The whole area needs to be set on fire.

Theme song for the carnival was “Hopeless Wanderer” by Mumford and sons

I don't think setting the area on fire would actually help its runnability very much, even in the short term.

Probably not though I thought maybe it might turn some of the logs to ash (unlikely the unmapped rocks would share the same fate).

Let’s just hope the new song won’t be this year’s theme. It applied to an awful lot of occasions over the past 2 weekends.

Same here, I looked at some of my routes over the two long distance events and wondered just how I went from picking somewhat good routes a few years ago (when running at previous interstate events) to having no real clue over the past fortnight and just muddling my way through.

I think one of my problems is that at the moment I tend to just go straight. I am so slow that looking for an alternative route usually doesn't pay off. It would have been worthwhile to do this on Sunday at least...
