Interesting idea. leg lift certainly decreases with age, and probably shortens the stride....in HS track I did an exercise of lifting a weight tied to my ankle...leg lift is important.

@Coach -- you can probably get similar results doing standing knee lifts with ankle wgts. However, I found I could move against a significant wgt stack (60#), much more than the 5# of ankle wgts I have. Probably important to maximize the range of motion.
My ankle weight of choice in HS was an old rail (yes, as in railroad track) which probably was about 20 lbs., and I tied it to my foot with shoe lace.
