That sure is a fine tour, a good October farewell. I got to know Tower and Round Pond Roads and environs in the past year (really reacquainted - it had been so long). It seems amazing that the Pawtuckaway mountains constitute an ancient volcanic dike in the Granite State and P'way so strewn with granite boulders.

There's another (much bigger) one of those NE of Winnipesaukee, I think -- the Ossipee Mountains.

Yes, Mt. Shaw and Mt Roberts and others. The SW slopes down to L. Winnipesaukee are like the Wt Mountains, - Granite, boulders, steep, rough, etc. The NE side, possibly the inside of the ancient crater, is fertile ground, mellow with deciduous trees, and almost no rock. Two very different worlds very close together.
