Seriously! Like you need more to do.
I was scheduled for jury duty early in the pandemic but they cancelled it. That was only a few years after my last stint of jury duty, which I actually enjoyed. I suppose they've figured out how to do it in a Covid-friendly manner now. We spent a lot of time in the jury room eating and drinking, which I wouldn't want to do with a bunch of strangers anymore. I wonder how they handle that.
You would be a good person to have on a jury though.
I’ve been on three juries in the past. One was for what would now be called a hate crime, and was quite interesting. Both the testimony and the jury dynamics.
And, I just realized I am likely to be excused for having been out of the country within 14 days. I’ll find out on the 9th.
I got to the court a bit early. Did the Covid screening - they didn’t care about being out of the country. Then went through security. As I cleared security, I was told court was canceled and that I just needed to go upstairs to check in before I went home. Upstairs, they only needed people who needed a letter for work to check in, so I was just sent home...so I took a needlepoint to be framed and picked up some colour for the house.
Oh! The first time I did Jury Duty, they spent 1.5 hours showing us videos to explain the role. Then they announced there were no court cases requiring a jury that week so we could all leave. Sounds like today was an equally valuable use of your time. Are you planning to paint?
I do have some painting to do when it warms enough to air out the fumes, but this was flowers.
Oh yes, I saw them. Beautiful!
