Looks like this is going to happen, on Saturday, September 3. Probably earlier in the day than has been the case in prior years. More details as soon as we flesh them out.
boo (just the date; thanks to J-J for keeping USCMOC alive!)
Edit: Good that it's on Saturday, because it's on the way to Sutton, QC, and one could do CMO, and only miss the ECOC sprint...
Any idea how early it will start?
Dang, we're not back until Sunday. Maybe I can change my flights....
Info to be posted shortly. Aiming for first start around noon (earlier than in past years).
Info now posted, see event listing (and then bombard me with messages about what important detail I left out).
GuyO: Check the schedule. It should enable people to do just as you wished, i.e., do the CMOC and then head north.
Not early enough to do the 3 PM Sprint on Saturday afternoon in Sutton, though, unless you have a much more impressive form of transportation than I do. But ample time to drive up and be ready for the Sunday event.
noncompetitive control retrieval
I like your marketing style.
Nice maze! Sorry to have to miss it...
Does anyone remember a previous maze with any uncultivated land on the outside (but within the field)?
Looks like there are lots of potential control sites that would only be reachable from outside the maze -- but only the one (extra wide) entrance, in the usual place.
The registration list was just sent out to everyone who has registered (or the family or group leader in some cases). If you signed up, please check to see that you received it and that everyone you expect from your group is on the list. If not, post a message here and I'll try to figure out if I missed any messages on my end (or confirm that you are signed up if my email to you just didn't go through).
Results will be posted as soon as I get a chance. The noncompetitive control retrieval went very smoothly, and after having gotten the event underway just about on time at noon, we were all packed up and ready to leave right around 4 PM.
It turns out that the reason for the blank, uncultivated area at the top of the design was squirrels. They were digging up the corn before it sprouted, and despite several attempts to replant it, they just couldn't get anything growing back there. Altering the maze design was the only option. The extremely dry conditions this summer also meant that they had to water the maze area for the first time.
Maps are on my log. I thought the courses were really good.
First female, and overall winner (!) was Izzy Bryant, with Bridget Hall and Pavlina Brautigam second and third females. Keegan Harkaway and Brendan Shields tied for first male, Jon Campbell was third.
Great courses to complement a fantastic maze. Good visualization and especially concentration were required. Thanks Stephen, jj and the maze designer and makers.
Ditto--thanks to Stephen, jj, and all others. Very fun and navigationally challenging courses. And great to see so many yutes in attendance.
The Platform event was a nice addition to the usual fare.
Overall results, for those who completed all three events

What I need to do is a table, and I know how, I just didn't have the energy to do it yet.
(OK, now it's a table.)
J-J and PG, thank you SO MUCH for a wonderful super fun time.
Loved the new platform format.
The maze was a lot of fun.
Great to see everyone!
